“Oaxaca; Last Days”, was inspired by my trip to this Mexican city as I faced a looming loss in my life. In Oaxaca, the sidewalks are narrow, so you are often walking inches away from rough, brightly colored sides of buildings. As I made my way through the narrow streets, stark light and sharply delineated shadows interplayed with the sky distorting my perception of space. After awhile, flat, bold colors seemed to undermine my preconceived ideas of stability. This surreal experience fit neatly into my personal challenges. As difficult as it was sometimes, my time in Oaxaca will be remembered with feelings of tenderness and gratitude.
